Wine-doors 0.1 pre-release 1
19 May 2007 – 1:23 pmThe first release of Wine-doors just got out! It is still in Beta stage, but you can try it out already.
What is Wine-doors?
Wine-doors is an application designed to make installing windows software on Linux, Solaris or other Unix systems easier using Wine. Its desinged for the GNOME Desktop using pygtk.
Its a very recent application still, and so, the number of softwares that it may install is short:
Browsers : Firefox 2.0/1.5 , IE6
Music : Winamp
Fonts : Tahoma, Georgia, Verdana ( and some more )
Games : Soldat, Prey, Steam, Half Life 2, World Of Warcraft 2.0.4, Call of Duty 1.4
Microsoft : DirectX 9.c, Visual Runtime Libraries, DCom, Common Controls ( and some more )
On its 1º run it will go trow an automated process to install a pack of software and fonts:
Fonts: Arial, comic sans, courier New, Times New Roman and Webdings
Wine Gecko 0.1
Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.7.12 (Used in Steam for example)
AutoHotKey 1.0.46.08
So, how does one install it?
Just download the tar.gz from the projects page and
tar -zxvf wine-doors-0.1pre1.tar.gz
cd wine-doors-0.1pre1
python setup.py install
Its available in: Applications - System Tools - Wine Doors
Its very easy to use, just select what you want to install from the list, and Apply.
