Wine & Cedega

21 April 2007 – 9:19 pm

Reading the latest Wine Weekly Newsletter 329, they talk about Cedega and its relationship with Wine.

In the begin of the Cedega/Wine Benchmarks you can read:

  • Cedega’s core is based off the original Wine tree and was forked in 2002. There are several core components that no longer share a similarity with Wine as it exists today.
  • Transgaming has not actively contributed to Wine in about 5 years with the exception of a few patches (less than 5 a year.)

The article points also at THIS ARTICLE where the benchmark is done and.. Wine has a better performance that Cedega 6.0 :D

  2. I just wish I could get the games I want to work on Cedega OR Wine. Other people seem to have gotten them to work without problem. [The latest one is the Al Emmo’s demo - http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,647/.

There are so many configuration variables, that I can never get either of them to work.

On a side note, is there a way to subscribe to the Wine Weekly Newsletter? I looked all over the site, but couldn’t seem to find a way.
