Ubuntu 7.10 “Gutsy Gibbon”
12 April 2007 – 9:17 pmUbuntu 7.04 is not even out yet, and the planing of 7.10 has already started.
The next release will have the Code Name “Gutsy Gibbon” and has 7.04 it will not be LTS ( Long term suport ).
The release Schedule follows the normal schedule
A point of notice for 7.10 is that there is going to be a new branch ( like kubuntu/xubuntu/edubuntu ) but 100% Free software, following the guide of GnewSence.
“(…) no firmware, drivers, imagery, sounds, applications, or other content which do not include full source materials and come with full rights of modification, remixing and redistribution (…) “
This looks like a response to critics for having included proprietary drivers. Lets see what will be the result.
Having Composite by default also looks like an objective, now closer with the work already done in Feisty.
