Feisty Fawn Test
February 9, 2007 – 1:12 pmFeisty Fawn is the code name for the new Ubuntu release 7.04 ( Scheduled for the 19th of April ). Some of the features we can expect are :
- The new 2.6.20 Kernel
- Gnome 2.18
- The new Gnome Control Center ( i’ll talk about it later )
- Simple Multimedia
- Easy Network Management
- (…)
You can see the list of Goals for Feisty @ Launchpad
Today I’ve decided to install Feisty Fawn Herd 3 Alternate CD (Daily Build 8/02) on my laptop to start testing it.
The installation with this CD is basically the same, but you can see some differences already.
- My hard-drive has been seen has HDA, but in Feisty it is SDA. This is due to the new Kernel 2.6.20 so don’t be scared :p
- In the keyboard selection, the macintosh keyboard appears ( Mac users can be happy )
In the Desktop CD install, i was told that the Partitioning System has also changed, but the system is not fully implemented yet.
Minor visible changes to this point.
The system starts smoothly. It appears to be more smooth than Edgy (and Dapper of course). I can’t say nothing about the memory use because it’s still Alpha, and the only the with the final i can compare. But it looks the same comparing to Edgy.
But 2 “bugs” showed up to this point:
- The Software Sources Dialog does not show up https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptic/+bug/71983
- The system mounted my other partitions in /media/, but the dont show up in the Computer (computer:///) or in the desktop.
/etc/init.d/dbus restart and they appear.
Back later with more info

Thanks for the tip, my partitions were also only appearing at /media/, and with the dbus restart, it is all normal now
