Feisty Fawn - New Updates
February 27, 2007 – 8:27 pm3 updates in Feisty : Xorg 7.2 , System menu , and Compiz!
* Xorg 7.2 made its way in Feisty.
* Finally the System menu is back to old style, and Alacarte was updated. This means you can choose if you want to see the control panel, or the old style cascading menu.

Just run alacare in a Terminal and:
The Control Panel may be nice feature for new users, but accessing the cascading menus is faster when you know what you want.
* And it looks like Compiz is in Ubuntu Feisty! It will Installed by default, but Not enabled by default. default, just have to go to System - Preferences - Desktop Effects to activate.
When every one thought it was going to be deferred, they surprised us.

Hmm, I don’t see these Desktop Effect settings, can it be accessed by console, too?

Awesome tip, thanks! I would probably not have seen that option if you didn’t let us know about it. My two year old laptop does OK with this, but it doesn’t appear to “spin” the cube when changing workspaces. Try these keystrokes out once you have enabled desktop effects:
Spin Cube = Ctrl+Alt+(right-or-left-arrow-key)
Switch applications = Alt + Tab
Show all applications = Ctrl + Alt + (up-arrow-key)
Try minimizing an application
Try maximizing an application
Try dragging a windows around by clicking on the title bar
Notice the way tool-tips “pop” up
