Audacious is a fork of BMP ( beep-media-player ) that has a great look, very simple, and easy functionality. Has the touch of Classic Winamp.
It feels better than XMMS in my opinion, better setting manager, has some nice plugins ( you can get more at the projects web page ) ...

Why should one use a ugly aMSN?
Vuen has created a script to compile aMSN with Anti-Aliasing. That means its easy and no trouble!
The final result should look something like this:
Just do this:
wget www.guiaubuntupt.org/files/fixamsn.sh
chmod +x fixamsn.sh
