Some time ago, Novell released a new version of their odf-converter, that allows you to open OpenXML files (docx, xlsx, pptx) in OpenOffice 2.X.
I know that OO.o 2.3 opens docx files already, but this plugin gives better support to that "format" for does who need to open it.

Installing the latest Firefox 3.0 Beta 3 in Ubuntu Gutsy is really simple and you just have to use Synaptic. Just enable the Backport repositorie and install Firefox 3 b3.
